Die Wirkung von generischen Wettbewerbsstrategien auf die Unternehmensperformance: Eine empirische Untersuchung des deutschen Kapitalmarkts

Abstract

Die vorliegende Studie betrachtet die Beziehung zwischen Wettbewerbsstrategien und Unternehmensperformance. Hierzu werden zwei Leistungskennzahlen (EBIT und Marktkapitalisierung) als wichtigste abhängige Variablen verwendet, die sowohl die Jahresabschluss- als auch eine Kapitalmarktperspektive umfassen. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass ein signifikanter Zusammenhang zwischen der strategischen Ausrichtung und der Performance von Unternehmen besteht. Wir verwenden Panel-Regressionsmodelle für deutsche börsennotierte Unternehmen mit insgesamt 2.821 Unternehmensjahren und identifizieren signifikante Auswirkungen in Bezug auf Differenzierungsstrategien, Kostenführerstrategien und Internationalisierung sowohl für das EBIT als auch für die Marktkapitalisierung. Darüber hinaus finden wir empirische Belege für positive Effekte der Diversifikation auf das EBIT, wenn wir ausschließlich diese spezifische Beziehung testen. Gleiches gilt für den Zusammenhang zwischen der Diversifikation und der Marktkapitalisierung. Schließlich finden wir empirische Evidenz dafür, dass die Zahlen aus dem Jahresabschluss und die Kapitalmärkte nicht immer in die gleiche Richtung weisen und die Auswirkungen daher je nach Leistungskennzahl variieren.
