Abstract

Das „CARE-Paket“ ist dauerhaft in den deutschen Sprachgebrauch eingegangen, als Hilfslieferung von Wurst, Strümpfen oder Schokolade. Weniger bekannt sind die Ausmaße der privaten Unterstützungsaktion aus den USA für Europa nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg – und ihr Zusammenhang mit dem staatlichen Marshallplan, der den wirtschaftlichen Wiederaufbau fördern sollte. Sienna Nordquist ist der Geschichte dieser Entwicklungshilfe nachgegangen. Es geht um weit mehr als um Rosinenbomber und Bohnenkaffee.
