Abstract

Der Beitrag analysiert die Auseinandersetzungen, Konfliktlinien und Akteurskonstellationen in den Debatten um die Dauer der Grundschulzeit seit der Weimarer Reichsverfassung. Dabei zeigt sich, dass der mit dem Weimarer Kompromiss eingeschlagene Entwicklungspfad einer vierjährigen Grundschulzeit bis heute relativ resistent ist gegenüber allen Reformversuchen. Vorstöße zur Verlängerung der Grundschulzeit scheiterten in der Vergangenheit häufig daran, dass höhere soziale Schichten sich diesen erfolgreich widersetzen konnten. Die Zunahme sozialer Ungleichheiten in der Gesellschaft in den letzten Jahren führt aus unserer Sicht dazu, dass Ausweichmöglichkeiten und die horizontale Differenzierung im Grundschulbereich an Bedeutung gewinnen und die gemeinsame Grundschule für alle zunehmend unterwandert wird.
