RETRACTED ARTICLE: Leveraging Intangible Cultural Heritage Resources for Advancing China’s Knowledge-Based Economy

Abstract

This comprehensive study delves into the intricate relationship between China’s intangible cultural heritage (ICH) and the knowledge-based economy. With a meticulous cataloging and mapping effort, the research provides a vivid representation of China’s rich ICH assets, highlighting their cultural significance and geographical distribution. The study recognizes and celebrates the inheritors who safeguard and pass down these invaluable traditions, ensuring their continuity. Furthermore, the research explores the symbiotic relationship between ICH-related industries and the knowledge economy, emphasizing their multi-faceted contributions to economic growth, innovation, and regional development. Legal frameworks governing ICH are scrutinized, emphasizing the need for reforms to safeguard these cultural resources within the dynamic landscape of the knowledge-based economy. This study not only addresses gaps in existing literature but also offers valuable managerial implications for policymakers, cultural institutions, and practitioners. It challenges conventional boundaries between culture and commerce, advocating for the harmonious coexistence of heritage preservation and economic growth. The digital transformation of ICH resources presents significant opportunities for wider dissemination and access, opening new markets and revenue streams. This study is a clarion call for action, urging a broader understanding of how culture and economics can coexist harmoniously, ensuring the thriving legacy of China’s intangible cultural heritage in the knowledge economy era. Future avenues for research include exploring innovative legal reforms, strategies for digital ICH dissemination, and case studies for successful integration with various industries.
