The problems of personnel policy in Polish state owned companies' supervisory boards (Problemy polityki personalnej w radach nadzorczych spolek Skarbu Panstwa)

Abstract

The paper discusses the personnel policy in supervisory boards of Polish state owned companies' (SOCs). The aim of the research conducted by the author was to decide if the personnel policy guarantees that supervisory boards secure SOCs' interests. The accomplishment of this general aim demanded to solve three particular problems. Firstly, whose interests are supported by the personnel policy - only shareholders' or also other SOC' stakeholders', in particular their employees. Secondly, if legal rules guarantee that SOCs' supervisory boards members acquire appropriate skills and knowledge. Thirdly, if personnel policy promotes that SOCs operate according to public interest or stay under the political influence. The research consists of the analysis of regulations as well as large sample analysis conducted among SOCs' management and supervisory boards members.
