Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of sustainable tourism policies in Jordan, focusing on the roles of key stakeholders, including government bodies, local communities, and tourism businesses. Using a qualitative analysis of focus group discussions, it analyzes the challenges and opportunities in implementing sustainable tourism policies and strategies. While frameworks such as the National Tourism Strategy and Green Growth Action Plan (2021–2025) provide a foundation, concerns persist regarding exploiting natural resources and limited stakeholders’ engagement. The findings stress the need for enhanced policy coordination, greater community involvement, and robust climate change mitigation measures. The study offers actionable recommendations to strengthen the sustainability of Jordan’s tourism sector, ensuring long-term environmental, economic, and cultural benefits.
