De la réforme du système monétaire à la monnaie sociale : l’apport théorique de P.J. Proudhon (1809-1865)

Abstract

Even if the experiences in the world of social currencies occupy recently the front of the economic scene, these new forms of exchanges join a long historic filiation of experiences with monetary character considered as utopian and/or socialist. Nevertheless, by using from the XIXth century a social currency (credit with no interest) as instrument of reform of the monetary system, Proudhon seems to have posed the theoretical bases to explain the existence of the current social currencies. Résumé : Même si les expériences dans le monde de monnaies sociales occupent depuis peu le devant de la scène économique, ces nouvelles formes d’échanges s’inscrivent dans une longue filiation historique d’expériences à caractère monétaire qualifiées d’utopiques et/ou socialistes. Néanmoins, en utilisant dès le XIXe siècle une monnaie sociale (le crédit à intérêt nul) comme instrument de réforme du système monétaire, P.J. Proudhon semble avoir posé les bases théoriques pour expliquer l’existence des monnaies sociales actuelles.
