Theorie im Praxistest - Warum Betriebe in die Ausbildung investieren

Abstract

Zur Unterscheidung des Einflusses humankapitaltheoretischer Kalküle auf die betriebliche Ausbildungsentscheidung wird eine Betriebsbefragung des IAB-Betriebspanels aus den Jahren 1993 bis 2003 ausgewertet. Weitgehend stabil orientieren sich Betriebe bei der Entscheidung für eine Ausbildung an der bereits vorhandenen Qualifikation der eigenen Belegschaft. Mit steigendem Anteil qualifizierter Mitarbeiter steigt auch die Ausbildungsbereitschaft der Betriebe. Bestätigt wird der negative Zusammenhang zwischen Fluktuationsrate und der Ausbildungsneigung sowie die positive Wirkung guter technischer Ausstattung. Ferner ergibt sich ein positiver Zusammenhang zwischen der Weiterbildungsaktivität und der Ausbildung. Es wird resümiert, dass humankapitaltheoretisch begründete Überlegungen einen Beitrag zur Erklärung der Ausbildungsbeteiligung von Betrieben leisten können. (IAB)
