Can emergency industry demonstration base promote regional economic resilience?

Abstract

Using China’s national emergency industry demonstration base (NEDB) as a quasi-natural experiment, this study employs a double machine learning (DML) model to examine its impact on and mechanisms behind regional economic resilience. The results reveal that the construction of NEDB significantly enhances regional economic resilience. Regional security input serves as a critical impact mechanism, while government intervention positively moderates this relationship.
