Abstract

Electric power and natural gas networks are coupled through several types of network facilities. These interdependencies are getting stronger and should be considered at both the operational and the planning stage. Hence, it is necessary to have a powerful simulation model that is capable to simultaneously analyze these two coupled networks in a single simulation environment. This can be done by an equivalent electrical model of the whole multi-energy system. In this study, the behavior of an ideal, as well as a real natural gas compressor station, has been analyzed and electric analogy steady state models are given. The verification of the presented model is obtained by two case studies. In the first, the presented model is verified through a wide range of input data by comparing its simulation results with the results obtained by SIMONE - commercial software package for gas network simulation that is widely used in Europe. In the second, a real natural gas compressor station is modeled with the presented approach and the obtained results are compared with the measurements. In both cases, the results have shown a very high precision of the presented model and confirmed the proposed modeling principles and the approach.
