Abstract

This study investigated the influence of stakeholder engagement on the sustainability of donor-funded projects among NGOs in Kenya using the FIDA Kenya toll-free lines project as a case study. Anchored on stakeholder theory and supported by sustainability, participatory development, and institutional theories, the research employed an explanatory cross-sectional design. Data were collected from project stakeholders using structured questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics in SPSS. Regression analysis revealed that stakeholder identification, involvement, and communication significantly influence project sustainability, jointly explaining a substantial proportion of the variation in sustainability outcomes. The study concludes that structured and inclusive stakeholder engagement strategies are critical for long-term sustainability of donor-funded projects.
