Análisis espacial de la pobreza en Antioquia, Colombia

Abstract

En este artículo se asume la pobreza como realidad espacial, una producción social que necesita instrumentos alternativos de medición. Así, el documento se inserta en la discusión teórica de la pobreza como fenómeno espacial e incorpora las herramientas de análisis exploratorio de datos espaciales en la explicación de los aspectos multidimensionales de la pobreza en los 125 municipios del departamento de Antioquia (Colombia). La pobreza es medida como porcentaje de población con necesidades básicas insatisfechas (NBI). Como resultados se observa una dependencia espacial del fenómeno de la pobreza de los municipios con sus vecinos, concentrando los altos porcentajes de población pobre en zonas de frontera y los bajos en el centro del departamento.
