Abstract

Investment plays a key role in an economy’s growth. For advanced industrialised nations, it is not only a question of the size of overall economic investments, but also of their composition. Above all, because types of investment differ according to their productivity and operational costs, they have different effects on overall economic growth. This article offers an overview of the status of technology-intensive investment in various sectors of the German economy.
