Subcontratación laboral y salarios: una estimación por cuantiles

Abstract

El outsourcing, o subcontratación laboral, es una forma de relación laboral que rompe con los esquemas regidos por el derecho laboral tradicional. Su reciente difusión en México ha abierto un debate sobre la necesidad de implementar una regulación más estricta sobre esta forma de contratación, dados los efectos negativos que tendría sobre el trabajador. La poca evidencia empírica al respecto motiva la realización de este trabajo. Con este propósito, este estudio propone una definición para identificar y medir la presencia del outsourcing en México para el primer trimestre de 2019, utilizando la Encuesta Nacional de Ocupación y Empleo (ENOE). Con base en esta medición, estimamos efectos de tratamiento por cuantiles para calcular el impacto de la subcontratación laboral en los salarios. Encontramos que el outsourcing tiene un efecto negativo sobre los ingresos salariales mensuales que va del 16% en el decil más bajo al 2% en el decil más alto.
