Mercado de trabajo de Colombia: suma de partes heterogéneas

Abstract

Se encuentran diferencias importantes entre ciudades en variables del mercado de trabajo de Colombia como las tasas de participación, ocupación, desempleo y salarios. Se construyen rangos para estas variables como la diferencia entre el valor más alto correspondiente a una ciudad y el valor más bajo correspondiente a otra ciudad. Los rangos de variación promedio desde 2001 hasta 2011 o desde 2006 hasta 2011 en cada una de estas variables son superiores a los 13 puntos porcentuales. Dichos rangos son sensibles al aumento de las tasas de participación y ocupación. Este hecho, en el caso de la tasa de desempleo, ha sido documentado para otros países. Sin embargo, en Colombia, contrario a lo que se presenta a nivel internacional, cuando la tasa de desempleo aumenta no se observa una respuesta sistemática del rango de esta variable. En los países analizados los rangos de las tasas de desempleo crecen al aumentar la tasa de desempleo.
