Efectos de la infraestructura sobre el fracaso escolar: evidencia empírica para Colombia

Abstract

Esta investigación aprovecha la variación generada por la construcción de un gran número de colegios de Bogotá, con diferentes características en su infraestructura, para estudiar el efecto de la infraestructura sobre la repetición y los canales por los que esta ópera. Esta investigación utiliza una rica fuente de datos administrativos a nivel del nino para construir un novedoso panel de datos. En este trabajo se utiliza como estrategia de identificación diferencias en diferencias. Esta investigación encontró que una mejor infraestructura reduce la tasa de repetición en 0.51 puntos porcentuales. Esto es equivalente al 8,03% de la tasa media de repetición reportado en el mismo periodo de estudio. Además, este trabajo concluye que los componentes de la infraestructura afectan diferencialmente la tasa de repetición, los componentes que tienen el mayor impacto en la reducción de la repetición son laboratorios de ciencias o química, laboratorios de computación o tecnología, laboratorio de idiomas y la emisora.
