Teilbericht 4: Auswirkungen des demographischen Wandels auf die Verkehrsnachfrage in den Regionen

Abstract

Der Einfluss des demographischen Wandels auf die künftigen Mobilitätsstrukturen ist für die österreichischen Regionen eine gesellschaftliche, politische und technische Herausforderung. Regionale Wachstums- und Schrumpfungsprozesse sowie Strukturänderungen innerhalb der Bevölkerung werden in Kombination mit parallel verlaufenden Verhaltensänderungen langfristig spürbare Konsequenzen auf das Verkehrswesen haben. Die bisherige kleinräumige Bevölkerungs- und Haushaltsentwicklung hatte eine verkehrsintensive Organisation des Alltags und ein beträchtliches Wachstum des Regionalverkehrs zur Folge. Gemäß den vorliegenden Bevölkerungsprognosen und der Projektion der individuellen Mobilitätsmuster wird die Verkehrsnachfrage im überwiegenden Teil Österreichs weiter wachsen, sich allerdings in ihrer Struktur verändern. Für Verkehrspolitik und Verkehrsplanung sowie für das Management und die Finanzierung der Infrastruktur ergibt sich ein regional differenzierter Handlungsbedarf zur Anpassung der Prioritäten und Maßnahmen, der im Teilbericht skizziert wird.
