El efecto traspaso de la tasa de interés de política monetaria en Perú: evidencia reciente

Abstract

Este trabajo estima el efecto de cambios en la tasa de interés de política monetaria sobre las tasas de interés activas y pasivas del sector bancario peruano, así como la velocidad a la cual se transmite dicho efecto. Para ello, se estiman modelos de corrección de errores, lineales y no lineales, que asumen la existencia de una relación de largo plazo entre cada tasa de interés bancaria y la tasa de política monetaria. Los resultados para el periodo de agosto 2010 a mayo 2017 muestran que el efecto traspaso: (i) es mayor sobre las tasas de interés activas que sobre las pasivas; (ii) es mayor cuando los plazos de los créditos son menores a un año; y (iii) es cercano a 1 cuando los plazos son menores a un año. Respecto a la velocidad de transmisión: (i) las tasas de interés activas de corto plazo se ajustan más rápidamente que las de largo plazo; y (ii) las tasas de interés activas se ajustan más rápidamente que las pasivas.
