Abstract

[eng] Prudential regulation and market discipline . Market discipline is considered a fundamental element of on-going reforms of banking regulatory supervisory systems. This article aims at clarifying the logic of the main theoretical arguments in favour of market discipline and reviewing the main empirical tests of these arguments. . JEL classifications : E44, G28 [fre] La discipline de marché est considérée comme un élément fondamental des réformes en cours des systèmes de contrôle prudentiel des banques. Cet article vise à clarifier la logique des arguments théoriques en faveur de la discipline de marché et de résumer les principaux résultats économétriques testant la pertinence empirique de ces arguments. .
