Bedingt abwehrbereit: Deutschland im digitalen Wandel

Abstract

Die Weltwirtschaft befindet sich inmitten eines umfassenden Umbruchs, getragen vom hohen disruptiven Potenzial der Digitalisierung. In Deutschland wird vor allem die Digitalisierung des Verarbeitenden Gewerbes („Industrie 4.0“) als möglicher Auslöser einer neuen industriellen Revolution gesehen. Hingegen hat der Sachverständigenrat zur Begutachtung der gesamtwirtschaftlichen Entwicklung wiederholt gemahnt, dass vor dem Erfolg die Anstrengung stehen muss. Deutsche Unternehmen weisen im internationalen Vergleich bislang Defizite bei der Nutzung von Informations- und Kommunikationstechnologien (IKT) auf. Zudem haben junge Unternehmen in Deutschland gerade in der Wachstumsphase große Finanzierungsprobleme. Schließlich ist der deutsche Arbeitsmarkt nur bedingt auf den jetzt anstehenden Strukturwandel vorbereitet. An diesen Stellschrauben muss die Wirtschaftspolitik nun mit allen Kräften arbeiten, um die Attraktivität des Wirtschafts- und Investitionsstandorts zu stärken.
