Abstract

Working paper on structural change and industrial policy trends from 1970-1980 in Japan - discusses adjustment to petroleum price increases and inflation, competition, changing occupational structure and trade structure, role of workers, trade unions and entrepreneurs (incl. Production diversification, monopolys, subcontracting and foreign investment); provides evaluation of labour policy, fiscal policy and monetary policy; includes case studies of the textile industry and electronics industry.
