Abstract

Le mouvement de réorganisations des entreprises a été très marqué tout au long des années 1990, avec une orientation forte vers la décentralisation. Puis les entreprises ont remanié leur organisation interne de façon à améliorer la coordination et la communication en explorant les nouvelles possibilités offertes par les technologies de l'information et des communications (TIC). Les travaux de recherche montrent que ces transformations ont affecté à la fois les performances économiques des entreprises, leurs relations avec le marché et leur gestion de la main-d'oeuvre. Il semblerait qu'au tournant du millénaire, les frontières des organisations ont été au coeur des réformes accompagnant la globalisation, avec des conséquences importantes sur la structure des systèmes d'information. Mais la connaissance sur cette période est encore peu étayée. Alors que l'entreprise en tant qu'institution est ébranlée par la crise financière et économique, et que des questions de plus en plus nombreuses se posent sur le pilotage des organisations, il parait d'autant plus urgent de partager une connaissance commune sur la manière dont les entreprises de tous secteurs et de toutes tailles se transforment face aux défis qu'elles rencontrent. C'est le projet de ce numéro.
