Abstract

The average lifespan of Moroccan member companies, is very different depending on the region in which they are located. Since the failure is not only the result of company characteristics, it can also be the result of the impact of the space (the settlement region) in which these companies operate. The use of a multilevel analysis allowed us to isolate the effect of the context (the environment: the settlement region) from the effect specific to the companies with regard to the risk of failure. The results of the random-effect model show a slight effect of the context on the failure of industrial enterprises for the year 2017, against considerable effects of the company-specific variables.
