Abstract

The notion of economic war is polysemic. It is important to differentiate economic disputes between states, conflicts and especially economic wars. The instruments and weapons used are diversified (boycott, embargo, blockade, asset and foreign investment freeze, "secondary sanctions", cyber attacks). Disputes indicate divergent interests (international trade management, WTO, international role of the dollar, tax and debt conflicts, disruption of economic integration). Conflicts between states are more serious, they concern the sharing of the constraints of international security, international sales of weapons, the desire for economic independence, freeze of economic and financial aid or extraterritorial sanctions). The actual economic war leads to the arms race, international punishment, strategy of economic disruption, domination and economic power, and widespread cyber attacks.
