Abstract

Il semblera certainement à beaucoup que parler de métaphysique dans le cadre d'un discours de science sociale relève d'un invraisemblable solécisme intellectuel doublé d'une profonde régression. Il est en effet une tradition épistémologique maintenant établie de longue date qui tient pour un acquis irréversible d'avoir séparé philosophie et science. Comme on sait, le geste séparateur remonte à Kant qui formule la question "Que puis-je connaître ?" avec la ferme intention d'exclure du champ de la réponse les entités éthérées - l'être, Dieu, l'âme, l'essence, l'éternité, bref toutes les "choses" précisément répertories pour être du domaine de la métaphysique. Le savoir en vérité, nous dit Kant, ne saurait avoir d'autre domaine que les objets d'expérience sensible. Il y aura donc d'un côté la science qui connaît vraiment, de l'autre la métaphysique laissée à ses ratiocinations spéculatives, et au milieu la philosophie critique, gardienne des frontières. D'une certaine manière l'empirisme logique et la philosophie analytique sont les continuateurs de ce grand partage - la philosophie pour Wittgenstein n'est-elle pas la surveillante des jeux de langage, et sa tâche spécifique le tri des problèmes sensés et des problèmes absurdes ?
