Abstract

Esta nueva entrega de la serie Food for thought, de aportaciones al debate sobre políticas públicas, está dedicada a las balanzas fiscales y algunas cuestiones aledañas. Además de una bibliografía organizada sobre el tema, el trabajo incluye una breve discusión de qué son las balanzas fiscales, cómo se construyen o deberían construirse, y por qué conviene ir un paso más allá y elaborar cuentas territorializadas que permiten desagregar los saldos fiscales regionales para investigar sus causas. Seguidamente, se repasa qué hemos aprendido de las muchas balanzas fiscales que se han elaborado hasta el momento y se concluye con una reflexión sobre la conveniencia o no de que el Gobierno central elabore y publique balanzas fiscales regionales, o al menos los datos de base necesarios para su elaboración.
