Pobreza rural y transferencia de tecnología en la Costa Caribe

Abstract

Además de las disparidades regionales, en Colombia también existen marcadas diferencias entre el campo y la ciudad. En la Costa Caribe colombiana se encuentra casi la tercera parte de la población, y en la mayoría de los departamentos el NBI rural supera el 60%, casi el doble de las zonas urbanas. Dada la problemática en el uso actual de la tierra y la imposibilidad de ampliar la frontera agrícola, la generación de mayores ingresos deberá pasar por aumentos en la productividad, reducción de costos y por una adecuada planeación en el uso de la tierra. Ya que gran parte de la problemática de generación de ingresos se debe a problemas tecnológicos, en el presente documento se aborda el tema de la transferencia de tecnología como mecanismo para lograr la reducción de estas disparidades. De manera específica se revisan dos casos de investigación y transferencia de tecnología para el Caribe colombiano, la ganadería y la palma de aceite.
