Abstract

En esta edición veremos cómo gracias a una larga guerra civil que se vivió entre 1899 y 1902 la economía colombiana se vio negativamente afectada a principios del siglo XX con una inflación en su moneda de más del 300% anual, esta situación también desencadeno la perdida de Panamá y otros tantos infortunios para el país. Conozca aquí como Colombia pudo estabilizarse principalmente gracias a la exportación con base al café y otras estrategias. Además, este capítulo presenta la creación del Banco de la República en seis secciones: 1. La estabilización monetaria de 1903 a 1904. 2. El desempeño económico global en el período 1905 a 1922. 3. Sector monetario y bancario de 1905 a 1922. 4. Debates sobre la banca múltiple y la banca central y los proyectos presentados al Congreso del 1904 al 1922. 5. Razones para contratar a Edwin W. Kemmerer en 1922. 6. Conclusiones.
