Die Konsumausgaben österreichischer Haushalte im Pensionsalter

Abstract

Gemäß dem Lebenszyklusmodell für den privaten Konsum würde das Konsumniveau unabhängig vom Alter mit dem Produktivitätswachstum gleichmäßig steigen. Die Ergebnisse empirischer Untersuchungen aus dem angelsächsischen Raum widersprechen dieser Theorie jedoch. Aufgrund einer Auswertung der Konsumerhebung von Statistik Austria kommt die WIFO-Untersuchung zu dem Ergebnis, dass Pensionistenhaushalte in Österreich im Durchschnitt um 13% weniger für den Konsum ausgeben als Erwerbstätigenhaushalte. Die Konsumstruktur verschiebt sich im Ruhestand zu lebensnotwendigen Gütern und Dienstleistungen. Neue gesetzliche Rahmenbedingungen, sozialer Wandel und die Zunahme des vererbten Vermögens können das Konsumverhalten künftiger Pensionistengenerationen verändern.
