Wissenschaftliche Politikberatung: Erreicht der Rat von Ökonomen Politik und Öffentlichkeit?

Abstract

This paper discusses the state of economic policy advice in Germany and describes and analyses the results of a new ranking of German economists which not only measures individual economists’ impact on research (via the h-index), but also their impact on the general public (through media citations) and on public policy (through a survey of politicians and bureaucrats). In addition, the paper presents further survey results which reveal, among other things, that blogs and social media are currently not perceived as useful advice channels for economic policy advice among politicians and bureaucrats in Germany.
