Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to examine the attitudes of young management students toward the use of brain–computer interfaces (BCIs) in the workplace, considering both the potential benefits and the associated risks of this technology. Methodology: The study is exploratory in nature and was conducted using the CAWI method on a group of management students. Both open-ended and closed-ended questions were used on a 7-point Likert scale. Qualitative analysis included descriptive and focused coding, and quantitative analysis - descriptive statistics. Results: Respondents showed a high level of awareness of the existence of BCI technology, mainly for medical purposes. Positive attitudes towards its use in the workplace were observed in the context of aligning employee predispositions with the job requirements, supporting training and leadership skills development, as well as in the area of product improvement. The primary concerns were related to the coercion of using the technology and the violation of privacy. Research limitations/implications: A major limitation of the study is the restricted generalizability of its findings. Future research should examine the long-term effects of using neurotechnology in the workplace and the implications of intensified employee surveillance. Originality/value: This article addresses the existing research gap concerning attitudes toward brain–computer interface technology in the Polish workplace context. It offers preliminary insights into the potential acceptance of neurotechnology by employees.
