Abstract

This study analyzes labor mobility in Bolivia between the fourth quarter of 2015 and the second quarter of 2024, using data from the Continuous Employment Survey. Markov chain processes were used to estimate transition probability matrices by status (employed, unemployed, inactive), occupational category, and income, differentiating the results by sex. The results show high overall occupational stability, but with persistent gender gaps. It is evident that women have higher rates of transition to inactivity, lower upward wage mobility, and a concentration in low-quality jobs.
