Abstract

[eng] Extended concepts of consumption - What is understood by « extended consumption »? Two large types of approaches are available (they converge in a partial manner, however) : on the one hand, there is the enlargening, in terms of goods and services, of the field of consumption, notably in the area of non-mercantile monetary activities or non-monetary activities (such as that of household work and leisure time); on the other hand, there are the attempts at measuring the well-being of persons. The article, after recalling the definition of the consumption of households actually used in national accounts describes the various studies that exist on extended concepts of consumption and presents their purposes.
