Írásában a szerző azt igyekszik bemutatni, hogy a biodiverzitás radikális csökkenését nem a közgazdaság-tudomány elmaradottsága okozta, és Hayek gondolatainak segítségével arról is szeretné meggyőzni az olvasókat, hogy az áttörő, gondolkodásunkat átalakítani igyekvő tudományos erőfeszítések legalább annyira veszélyesek, mint amennyire hasznosak lehetnek.
