Co-Digitalization: A Participatory Maturity Model for Digital Transformation

Abstract

Digital transformation, especially in the age of (generative) artificial intelligence, has led to many opportunities and threads for organizations, particularly with the emergence of new artificial intelligence technologies and tools. Many organizational and individual barriers have been observed in the transformation process. The solution to these is incorporated in the concept of co-digitalization using a maturity model to assess the status of digital transformation: the approach is based on the assumption that transformation processes need to be initiated, created, and adopted by the stakeholders, in particular the employees and partners of organizations. An online survey was used to test the factors and categories according to their importance statistically and to analyze the relationships between the components using correlations. The model was successfully validated in a practical setting.
