Fintech, resource misallocation, and the diffusion of corporate innovation

Abstract

This paper empirically examines the impact of financial technology and resource misallocation on corporate innovation diffusion, based on microdata from China's A-share listed companies from 2009 to 2023. The study finds that financial technology significantly promotes corporate innovation diffusion, while resource misallocation notably inhibits it. Additionally, financial technology plays a significant moderating role in the relationship between resource misallocation and corporate innovation diffusion. The effects of financial technology and resource misallocation on corporate innovation diffusion exhibit heterogeneity between high-tech and non-high-tech enterprises.
