Abstract

As a strategic pillar industry of the national economy, the tourism industry has an increasingly prominent comprehensive driving effect on the stable and healthy development of the economy. This paper examines the impact mechanism of tourism agglomeration on high-quality development of regional economy across 30 Chinese provinces during 2009-2023. Results show tourism agglomeration significantly promotes regional economic development, verified by variable replacements. Digital finance acts as a key intermediary. Spatial analysis reveals heterogeneous spillovers-stronger in the east, negative in the central, and weaker in the west regions. Findings offer insights for regional development policies.
