Abstract

This paper investigates the impact of entrepreneurial motivation on entrepreneurial activity using data from the Chinese Household Finance Survey. The paper finds that both opportunity entrepreneurial motivation and survival entrepreneurial motivation can significantly promote entrepreneurial activity. Survival entrepreneurial motivation has a stronger effect. Further analysis reveals that the higher the level of financial literacy, the more obvious the promotion effect of entrepreneurial motivation on entrepreneurial activity. Financial literacy plays a role as a moderating variable.
