Outlook of tourism recovery amid an epidemic: Importance of outbreak control by the government

Abstract

•Residents predict quick tourism recovery if government controls an epidemic well.•Cognitive mediators, including self- and government efficacy, are crucial.•Negative emotion toward infection has no mediation role.•Cognition and emotion work independently during mental processing.
