Wanderungen von Ost- nach Westdeutschland

Abstract

Die Zahl der Umzüge von Ost- nach Westdeutschland geht seit 1990 ständig zurück. Jedoch ist diese Entwicklung vorwiegend ein Ergebnis der jetzt auch in Westdeutschland schlechten Bedingungen auf dem Arbeitsmarkt. Das Mobilitätspotential ist indes nach wie vor hoch: Ein Viertel der erwachsenen Ostdeutschen kann sich vorstellen, nach Westdeutschland umzuziehen. Im Hinblick auf den in Ostdeutschland noch nicht abgeschlossenen Strukturwandel ist bedenklich, daß vor allem junge, qualifizierte Personen die Region verlassen. Für diese Entscheidung spielen weniger die gegenwärtigen Bedingungen als vielmehr Erwartungen eine wichtige Rolle.
