Abstract

The objective of this research is to understand the contribution of the practice of teleworking on skills development. To achieve this, we favor a qualitative approach with an interpretivist aim. Data collection was carried out using semi-directive interviews with 11 teaching staff identified by reasoned choice within two IPES in the city of Yaoundé. The analysis technique used is automated content analysis using the Nvivo 12 software. The results from the interviews show that when the connection is good, it improves the quality of teleworking exchanges and thus promotes acquisition of new skills by teachers. In addition, the material conditions of remote working also contribute to the development of skills in the sense that they facilitate better learning in the use of digital tools, the sharing of experience between researchers and therefore the acquisition of new knowledge. Following these results, we recommend that IPES managers improve personal support involved in teleworking through training on software mastery (tutorials, benchmarking, online assistance service, etc.) and through the acquisition of better quality of equipment.
