Acerca de la relación entre el gasto público por alumno y los retornos a la educación en el Perú: un análisis por cohortes

Abstract

En el periodo 1960-2015, el gasto público real en educación por alumno en Perú mostró una severa caída en todos sus niveles hasta la década del 90, para luego mostrar una moderada recuperación. Dado que la educación pública es mayoritaria en Perú, proponemos que las generaciones que se vieron expuestas a menor gasto en educación deben presentar retornos a la educación más bajos. Utilizando un enfoque de cohortes (Deaton & Paxson, 1993; Attanasio, 1993), encontramos un decaimiento de los retornos para generaciones antiguas con una leve recuperación para las más recientes, en especial para la educación superior y para trabajadores hombres.
