Predicting the Performance of a First Year Graduate Student
AbstractIn this paper, I analyse, statistically, if GRE scores are a good predictor of the performance of a first year Economics graduate student. I also test if the scholastic year of an Economics PhD program contributes to the harmonization of the skills of students with different backgrounds. To both questions the answer is positive. GRE scores are relevant and the first scholastic year is effective in bringing together students with different entering skills.
