Zur Relevanz von Ausstattungsunterschieden für Forschungsleistungsvergleiche: Ein Diskussionsbeitrag für die Wirtschaftswissenschaften in Deutschland

Abstract

Forschungsleistungen sind nicht unabhängig von den institutionellen Rahmenbedingungen. Auf Basis der personellen und finanziellen Ausstattung identifizieren wir sechs Gruppen der universitären Wirtschaftswissenschaften in Deutschland und vergleichen Promotionen, Drittmittel, Publikationen und die Platzierung im RePEc-Ranking als Forschungsleistungsindikatoren. Die Ergebnisse bestätigen erwartungsgemäß Zusammenhänge zwischen den Input- und der Mehrzahl der Outputgrößen. Publikationen in Top-4/5-Journalen und die Platzierung im RePEc-Ranking folgen diesem Muster jedoch nicht; hier zeigt sich ein höchstens schwach ausgeprägter Zusammenhang. Besonders bedeutsam ist die Ausstattung der Professuren mit wissenschaftlichem Personal, andere Inputfaktoren spielen eine geringere Rolle. Die Analyse unterstreicht die notwendige Differenzierung bei Leistungsvergleichen und dient als Diskussionsanstoß für Weiterentwicklungen.
