Une analyse néo-institutionnelle de l'évolution de la gouvernance et des activités métiers du Groupe Bancaire Coopératif en France

Abstract

Cet article a pour objet de montrer que face à l'instauration d'un cadre juridique prônant un modèle bancaire universel et unique (décloisonnement des activités, fin du cylindrage de clientèle) et face aux pressions isomorphiques institutionnelles (DiMaggio et Powell, 1983) s'exerçant sur les Groupes Bancaires Coopératifs, nous devrions constater une uniformisation des modèles bancaires. Notre recherche longitudinale porte sur trois Groupes Bancaires Coopératifs français (Crédit Agricole, Crédit Mutuel, BPCE) et cela pendant une période de 24 ans. Si indéniablement nous ne pouvons nier l'évolution de ces groupes, rejoignant la littérature existante (Ory et al., 2006 ; Côté, 2001), nous ne constatons pas une uniformisation de ces groupes. Si ces groupes présentent des similitudes, ils gardent une spécificité tant au niveau de leur gouvernance, des parties prenantes qui composent cette gouvernance, que des activités métiers qu'ils réalisent. Si les pressions des isomorphismes normatif et coercitif peuvent expliquer certaines similitudes et évolutions des Groupes Bancaires Coopératifs, ils ne permettent pas d'expliquer la globalité de ces évolutions. Notre recherche permet d'explorer un peu plus cette organisation complexe et soulève de futures pistes de recherche autour des modèles d'Aoki (2010) et de North (2005).
