Structures de propriété, pouvoir discrétionnaire managérial et choix d'activité dans l'assurance dommages en France

Abstract

Dans le cadre de la théorie néoinstitutionnelle des organisations, cet article étudie le lien entre le pouvoir discrétionnaire des dirigeants et les choix d'activité des entreprises d'assurance dommages en France. Le pouvoir discrétionnaire des dirigeants, la gestion du risque moral et du risque non diversifiable sont analysés au niveau des différentes struc-tures de propriété. Une grille de lecture est proposée pour positionner les entreprises du secteur de l'assurance sur ces trois dimensions. La politique de souscription, d'investissement et l'envergure des firmes sont concernées. Le test réalisé sur données françaises confirme un position-nement spécifique aux mutuelles, sociétés anonymes privées et entreprises publiques.
