Abstract

L'objet de ce travail est de contribuer a une meilleure connaissance des industries mediterraneennes et de leurs performances relatives. Il porte sur cinq pays de l'espace euro-mediterraneen (Espagne, Portugal, Turquie, Maroc, egypte), compares a la France. Des bases de donnees industrielles sont construites dans une meme nomenclature, a partir des enquetes industrielles nationales. Une methode originale est utilisee pour convertir les donnees en une monnaie commune. Pour chaque couple de pays, la methode employee repose sur la constitution de " paniers " de biens industriels representatifs : la valeur de ce panier exprimee en monnaie nationale de l'un et l'autre pays fournit un taux de conversion entre les deux monnaies pour chaque branche et, par agregation, pour l'ensemble de l'industrie manufacturiere. Ces taux de conversion permettent une evaluation " reelle " des niveaux de production et de productivite ; ils fournissent aussi des niveaux de taux de change reels.
