Abstract

The following sections are included:Around 54 rigorously screened articles were retained for the systematic review, and they present evidence from 20 countries.The evidence is discussed based on meta-analysis and thematic synthesis.The largest number of studies dealt with community-based health insurance (CBHI) schemes in Sub-Saharan Africa.
