Abstract

[eng] Concentration indexes, monopole power and conjectural variations : some extensions. The purpose of this paper is to make clearer some aspects of the theoretical relationships that exist between the concentration indices and the measures of the monopoly power. First presenting a generalisation of Herfindahl index, the author then puts forward some indices which fit in with the cas of the leading firm. It is finally demonstrated that some difficulties may arise as we pass from the monopoly power to the ratio of profit to revenue at industry level, when the concentration is measured by the concentration ratio.
