Forecasting perspectives of the tourism industry development in the condition of economic depression

Abstract

Tourism industry is supposed to be powerful generator of economic growth, employment and inflows to public finances. Tourism seems to be helpful for supporting the economy's recovery in condition long lasting economic depression in Ukraine and cutting off incomes. Expectations of a renewable for the local economy tourism function enhanced due to decentralization of power and strengthening the role of local communities. However, statistical analysis and results of foreign studies indicate that under current conditions domestic tourism can not have a significant positive impact on the economic situation in the country. The study's objective is forecasting perspectives of the tourism development in rural territories in Ukraine in the condition of economic depression. The medium- and long-term prognosis of tourism activities is done considering development trends the sphere in the EU countries, as well as current and forecasted future income of citizens as the main consumers services of enterprises of rural green tourism. This area will not become a locomotive of economic development of rural territories over the next 10 years is concluded based on the forecast change levels of GDP in Ukraine and in view of key role level of population welfare for tourism development. Substantial growth and effective use of natural material resources the sphere and a volume of investment is necessary in a further for strengthening the potential of the tourism industry, in addition to raising revenue.
